Guide for referees

The first requirement for a publishable article is the correctness. An article with not easy-to-amend errors will not be published in Divulgaciones Matemáticas. Second, the exposition style should be appealing and as fluid and organized as possible. In research papers the importance of the subject, the relevance and originality of the results will be taken into account. In a nutshell, referees must take into consideration the following aspects:

* Importance of the subject under study.

* Originality of discussion.

* Relevance of discussion.

* Adequacy of the abstract.

* Internal organization of work.

* Writing and style.

The journal has several sections. The appropriate type of article for each section is described below:

Research papers: This are those containing original results not previously published.

Expository and historical papers: This are innovative, didactic or historical expositions of known issues. This section qualifies for the "surveys" and the dissemination works about interesting topics which are little known.

Mathematical Teaching papers: This are those that address the problem of teaching mathematics from any point of view. Those works referring to classroom research and practical learning experiences are preferred.

Referees must indicate the section of the journal they consider most appropriate for the article.

Once the request has been made, a referee has 7 calendar days to accept or reject the review process of an article. In case the referee accepts, he or she has a total of 60 calendar days (2 months) to evaluate and issue a verdict, starting from the date of acceptance of the review process. The evaluation of the article must be written n the evaluation template and, if necessary, more than one sheet can be used for such a purpose.

Referees may qualify an article as:

* Publishable with slight modifications.

* Publishable with substantial changes.

* Not publishable.

In the second and third case (publishable with slight modifications and publishable with substantial changes) referees must indicate the required modifications on the evaluation template and, if necesary, on the separate sheet, different from the evaluation template. At this point, the authors have a period no longer than 30 continuous days to correct the errors and incorporate anything the referees have required. This period starts at the moment the referee provides the report.

After the first 30 days of the review process, the referee will receive an electronic mail reminding the due date of the evaluation and verdict.

At the end of the refereeing process, Divulgaciones Matemáticas will acknowledge the referee with a credential.
